INTRODUCTION

It feels great to introduce the annual print edition of DestinationOmanwhich is into its third year now. You might recall, that this print edition was spurred by the immense popularity enjoyed by our website of the same name (www.destinationoman.com).

The overwhelming response to the previous editions and the millions of hits the website gets every month, is a sure indicator of the enormous appeal and
mystique the Sultanate of Oman, holds to the potential tourist, as what rightly makes it the cultural hub of the Arab world.

I am pleased to state that DestinationOman has now established itself as one of the most sought after tourism publications on Oman and, once again, this issue presents Oman, the jewel of the Arabian Peninsula, to you, like no other.

This edition covers everything, from traditional Omani hospitality to Omani
jewellery, insights into the famous Omani Khanjar, Omani art, and more. We also take you to on a pictorial tour of Musandam where, in the unpolluted waters you can see friendly dolphins swimming next to you and where you can feast on the breathtaking, panoramic views at the majestic mountain peaks of Jebel Harim.

There is Ras al Hadd too, a place where nature’s treasures unfold, where the endangered species of green turtles can be seen thriving in their natural habitat, thanks to the environment friendly policies of the government. Salalah, in Dhofar governorate, is another place abounding with natural beauty. It is the land where the famed Frankincense tree grows and which transforms itself into a green
paradise during the monsoon.

Surely one volume cannot capture all of Oman’s glory but we promise to bring you information on new and emerging destinations in future editions of this
publication. Till then, we hope this issue takes you on yet another dream trip into Oman and we look forward to your valuable feedback. If you have visited the Sultanate and have some interesting stories and pictures to share, please feel free to contact us.
