One of Sultanate’s most popular tourism websites www.destinationoman.com has won the Bronze Award in the Travel & Tourism category at the fourth edition of Oman Web Awards held at Al Bustan Palace hotel yesterday evening.
The website that was founded in 2001 by Deepak Nair, an Indian entrepreneur and long time resident of the Sultanate, usually shows up right on the first page, of all major search engines, like Google, Yahoo, etc, when a search for Oman or Oman travel related categories is fired. The website has all relevant information that a potential tourist to Oman would desire, like information on obtaining visas, a comprehensive listing of hotels, tour operators, airlines, rent-a-car firms, restaurants, banks, money exchange houses, places of tourist interests, how to get there, what to do, etc.
Speaking on the occasion Deepak Nair, the founder of the website said: “We have participated in Oman Web Awards only twice in the past 4 years and have won an award on both occasions that we participated in. There was stiff competition this time, as there were 13 sites in the Travel & Tourism category alone. This award will surely help us in our initiative to get Oman tourism’s potential greater recognition worldwide.”
The numerous enquires from visitors to the website spurred Deepak in bringing out an annual publication by the same name. The publication DestinationOman launched in 2004 is into its fifth edition now.
DestinationOman website is executed by InteracOman headed by Mr. Deepak Nair, that has over a hundred and fifty Omani websites in its portfolio.
